Antique ETAS Brass Penny Toilet Lock

Brass Penny Toilet Lock with  1 x Key to Money Compartment and 1 x Penny.  Top slot.
A great display piece.

 These ETAS locks were discountinued in the 1960s, this one dates to the early 20th Century.
 
It works as follows :
As you approach, the door is shut, you drop the penny into the slot which engages the lock, then slide or twist the knob to gain entry.  Slide the internal bolt across which changes Vacant to Engaged and blocks the penny slot off externally. The handle on the inside always operates to exit.
